With over 26 million followers on Instagram and 12 million on TikTok, as well as features in Forbes, Cosmopolitan and The New York Times, Sommer Ray’s vast social media presence is extending to the beauty industry with her innovative, ingestible beauty and wellness brand: Imarais Beauty.
This exciting new brand captures the essence of Sommer’s influencer status: clean, health-focused beauty products reflected by the brand’s catchphrase: inner beauty, outer glow.
JYZ Design came recommended to Sommer’s team after successfully finishing a project for one of Imarais’ investors. Her innovative omnichannel-focused team knew their eCommerce presence could be better optimized, so JYZ Design proposed a stunning design alongside a conversion-focused user experience and integrated eCommerce tools.’
Imarais encourages easy beauty, stepping away from highly regimented routines. ‘Glow’ gummies work to detoxify, protect and hydrate the skin through health-focused ingredients including marine algae and vegan squalene.
Meanwhile, ‘Grow’ gummies utilize the restorative properties of Reishi, Chaga, and Snow mushrooms to stimulate and strengthen hair follicles. Backed by third-party clinical studies, this product is revolutionary among Canadian-made alternative wellness products.
As web designers, we knew that Imarais Beauty needed a website indicative of these traits: clean, fresh, and glowing. Sommer’s celebrity standing also means that Imarais benefits from a social media-feeling user experience – so we brought those aesthetics and functionalities to the web.
Embedded social feeds, interactive testimonials and video backgrounds all work together to create an experience that gives visitors a sense of being part of a community. Additionally, users follow intuitive navigation pathways utilizing UI/UX that is native to the mobile environment.
Inspired by internet-borne trends, we deployed purposeful placement of funky font stylings to keep things fresh – resulting in a simultaneously polished, credible, fresh and playful aesthetic. Visitors will scroll through terms like plant-based superfood, community, and #GlowGang displayed in font choices that demonstrate the brand’s cool-girl-composure.
Style choices reminiscent of social media sites can be found throughout on web and mobile versions, as we know that Imarais beauty’s target audience follows Sommer on mobile platforms like Instagram and TikTok.
We embraced stylistic choices favoured by Gen Z, opting to use conversion-boosting web features like animations to bring dimension and interest. The gummies are represented using 3D render – life-sized, and integrated into virtual space. Additionally, hover-over micro interactions create visual interest as they encourage users to interact and “play” with satisfying scroll motions that keep their attention.
For optimal functionality, we used modern eCommerce techniques and chose to utilize a headless website design, where the front and back ends of the website operate on different platforms. Shopify was employed in the back end for its powerful eCommerce and processing capabilities. Meanwhile, WordPress was utilized as a flexible and artistically versatile front end.
